Several first-time candidates get nod from voters

The voters have spoken!
Well, 14% of them anyways.
Of Methuen’s 41,934 registered voters, 5,882 cast ballots in the Nov. 4 municipal election.
Mayor DJ Beauregard, who initially took on the “acting mayor” role after the sudden death of Mayor Neil Perry and last January won a special election to serve the remainder of Perry’s term, easily won his first full-term. Beauregard faced first-time candidate Barbara Stoebel.
A quartet of political newbies earned approval from voters. They are incoming Central District City Councilors Ella MacLaren and Yanilda Santos, incoming At-Large Councilor John Drew and incoming School Committee member Martha Sirois.
Not sure if they swapped clothes when they were younger, but brothers Nicholas and Ryan DiZoglio will be swapping seats come 2026: At-Large City Councilor Nick will return to the School Committee, while School Committee member Ryan gets his first crack as an at-large councilor.
The inauguration will be Jan. 2 at 5pm at Methuen Memorial Music Hall. Due to seating capacity, the event will not be open to the public but it will be live-streamed by Methuen Community Studios.
