This year’s Methuen Day saw nearly 4,000 visitors uniting in celebration of our city!

The day’s festivities included a parade through Methuen Square, live entertainment including the Happy Hearts Chorus and demonstrations by karate and dance groups. Hampshire Street was lined with 80 vendors, while Lowell Street up to the Central Fire Station was lined with 10 food trucks offering everything from Thwaites pork pies and Sicilian and Spanish street food to sweet desserts.

The Kids Corner featured a photo booth, face painters, bounce house, costumed characters, giant Connect Four and an obstacle course.

Essay contest winners, who wrote about “What Makes Methuen My Home,” were announced. Grand prize went to Daphne Cantara, while Emily Ford earned first place and second place went to Hamid Simmons.

Rec Director Steve Angelo co-chaired the event with Eunice Zeigler, and they were supported by an army of volunteers.

Angelo said, “Community events like Methuen Day are what makes Methuen a great place to live. The weather was perfect and it was wonderful seeing thousands of people young and old having so much fun enjoying the day downtown with our amazing local community groups, vendors and food trucks.”
