Join us Thursday, April 24 at 7pm for Tai Chi & Qigong: A Way of Mindfulness presented by Sharon Pei, a Tai Chi practitioner and educator. Learn how practicing Tai Chi and incorporating mindfulness into your daily life can benefit your health through Sharon’s presentation and guided practice. Sharon’s first Tai Chi teacher was her father and she has participated in workshops and seminars in the United States led by some of the top Tai Chi masters as since. Wing Luke Museum
Join us Friday, April 28 at 1pm to view the IMLS/PBS documentary “Visions of America: Exploring the Wing Luke Museum.” In this program, Institute of Museum and Library Services Director Crosby Kemper explores Asian-American Pacific Islander (AAPI) history and culture in Seattle beginning with a visit to the Wing Luke Museum. Established in 1967, the Wing Luke Museum is an art and history museum that focuses on art, history and culture of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders and Native Hawaiians; it is the only Pan-Asian community-based museum in the U.S. Please save your seat by registering with our Calendar of Events online or by calling (978) 686-4080.
Local Author Fair
Join us Saturday, April 26 at 11am as we meet three wonderful local authors and hear about their latest accomplishments. Tammy Gregg, Dorothy Putnam and Ilabeshi Aina will share how they came to write and what their books are about. Learn about their stories and their “stories” in this informative presentation. Ice Cream fund-raiser
The Friends of the Library will be hosting their ever-popular Ice Cream Chill Out on Wednesday, April 23 from 11am until 4pm (or until the ice cream runs out)! For only $5, you can get an ice cream sundae with all the fixings! All money raised benefits the Friends of the Library, which in turn supports the library by funding museum passes and programming.
Board and Brewed
Adults in their 20s and 30s: if you love coffee, tea and games, come to Board and Brewed! Board and Brewed meets Saturday, April 5 and Saturday, April 26 at 11am. The library will provide coffee and tea, you provide the games. There are no sign-ups for this program. Just drop in.

Children’s Room
Happy spring, everyone – we’re celebrating longer days and more sunshine with an array of great programs this month, including two very special events for young and old alike! On April 4 we’ll have another “Dinner & a Movie,” where we’ll screen a newly released family film, and you can bring your dinner to eat while you enjoy the show. During April vacation we’ll have a visit with The Poop Museum, where we’ll learn fun, fabulous, and fantastic facts about human, animal, and insect poop – a scientific and hilarious program that will have everyone laughing and learning at the same time! April vacation also features a “Candy Construction” program for ages 8-11, where kids will use candy and other materials to create structures (and maybe taste some of the edible components, too?).
Parent of our younger patrons will welcome back our “Messy Art” program for ages 3-6, where kids can have fun creating without worrying about making a mess. And speaking of welcome returns, don’t forget that Murphy the Dog is back from his winter vacation and is looking forward to listening to your children (ages 5-18) read aloud to him! Last but not least, we’ll be hosting an art show by students who attend St. Monica School, with their work displayed April 17-26 in the Children’s Room and the YA area.
As ever, we’ll also have our usual variety of preschool programs, storytimes (including a bilingual program), creative and thought-provoking older kids’ programs, teen programs and more – keep an eye on the Youth Services Department calendar and Facebook page to keep track of what’s in store!
