We are excited to introduce you to our NEW director here at your Methuen Senior Activity Center. Ashley Shaheen comes with a wealth of knowledge. We are excited to have her on board. Please help us welcome her. Stop in and say hello!

Ashley is taking over following the retirement of Linda Sheehan.

This Irish Blessing is for you …

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from our homes to yours!

100th Birthday celebrations

On Feb. 21, the Senior Center staff, Council on Aging, Board of Trustees and community celebrated the 100th birthdays of two important people!

Violet Jessel was the yoga teacher for 15 years at the center and has participated in the Happy Hearts Chorus since the day it began and is still singing! Violet turned 100 on Feb. 12. Happy Birthday, Violet!

We also celebrated a gentleman from Methuen who has been a part of the center for over 15 years – Tuffic Hatem! Tuffic turned 100 on Feb. 19 and he is just as vibrant now as he was the first day he came to the Methuen Senior Activity Center. Tuffic is a retired City of Methuen employee. After retirement, you could always catch him playing 45’s or enjoying lunch with many friends. He was always willing to lend a hand!

Happy Birthday, Tuffic!

The day was filled with friendship, accolades from the mayor, city councilors and the state delegation. There was food, music and singing of “Happy Birthday,” complete with birthday cake!
