Tenney puts on its own Macy’s-inspired parade!

After reading “Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade” by Melissa Sweet, Tenney Grammar School’s first- and second-graders held their own parade! With their teachers’ help, they created balloons with a theme (dinosaurs, elephants, snowmen, penguins & bears, to name a few). They decorated festive hats and Nov. 26 – while band music filled the air – they proudly marched around the Tenney playground waving to the crowd and raising their balloons for all to see! Homeroom teachers – some wearing turkey hats and other holiday garb – led their students on several loops around the playground while proud family members, the exuberant Tenney Tiger and Tenney staffers (including Supervising Principal David Hill) waved and high-fived the children.

Left, Lower School counselor Kimberlee Nutter led the way in a Tom the Turkey costume. “She’s amazing!” noted longtime school counselor Ed Shields. “She just does anything to make the kids laugh!”

The parade was led by teachers, followed by a long line of first- and second-graders who marched to band music while enthusiastically waving their homemade ballons!

First-graders Addison Jiminez and Alma Benitez were all smiles while parading around the playground.
