Happy spring from all of us at the Activity Center! It will be wonderful to open the windows and hear the birds singing their never-ending songs, children playing, the sounds of crowds in the baseball stands rooting for their favorite team and, yes, walking at the beach and taking in all the sights, sounds and smells the ocean has to offer.

Here at the Methuen Senior Activity Center, we are pleased to offer day trips to many destinations. Trip information is available in the main foyer of the center. If you haven’t been to the Center, we invite you to come and have a tour of this wonderful facility.

Saving money on healthcare

On Wednesday, April 12 at 9:30am, Congresswoman Lori Trahan will host a Casework Clinic for seniors at the Methuen Senior Activity Center. Trahan will be joined by members of her constituent services team and agency partners to assist seniors with casework requests. Trahan and Mayor Neil Perry will also deliver brief remarks on the healthcare savings applicable to Methuen seniors in the Inflation Reduction Act.
“Growing up in a working family, we lived in fear of a health complication that we might not be able to afford. That fear became a reality when my dad was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and I saw the hard conversations my family had about paying for treatment and medication. That’s why I voted for the Inflation Reduction Act: to lower the cost of life saving care for all families.” Trahan said. “But, the Inflation Reduction Act is only the beginning. In Congress, I will continue to fight for lower healthcare costs and I will continue to protect programs like Social Security and Medicare that thousands of Third District seniors rely on. Here in Methuen, I’m so grateful to be able to work with our agency partners, Mayor Perry, the Senior Center to host this casework clinic and connect seniors with resources they need!”
Various provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act have taken effect, starting in early 2023, and this event will help seniors understand the latest cost-saving provisions that could apply to them. The event also follows MassHealth’s insurance renewal process change, which takes effect April 1; Trahan’s team and agency partners will help seniors ensure their MassHealth information is up to date so they are receiving the best possible coverage.
