The Methuen Senior Activity Center will celebrate Older American Day with its Arts, Crafts and Music Festival on Thursday, May 9.

Here is the lineup of activities: 

8:30am: Jewelry Sale begins, main lobby.  
9am: Free coffee and doughnuts. 
10am: Join us for the official opening of the day’s events! Main lobby and Morrisette Auditorium will host arts and crafts from the crafters at the Activity Center and those from community. Display will include but not limited to: ceramics, quilting, paintings and photography
11am: Dance class and Zumba class with Val, highlighting their talents. 
11:45am: Lunch will be served featuring sandwiches, cold drinks, coffee and tea.
1pm: The Happy Hearts Chorus takes center stage for an afternoon of toe-tapping fun!

It is so nice to see so many people coming to the Methuen Senior Activity Center! Activity Coordinator Jennifer Loiselle offers so many new and exciting events. We invite you to introduce yourself and enjoy all that is being offered here. This is your center and we would like to meet you and see what you would like to do! 

Retirement is supposed to be days filled with laughter, friends, dancing, singing, trips and entertainment. Senior Centers offer that! Travel near and far, sing loud and let your voice be heard, live each day to the fullest. Why? Because you deserve it!

Join Mayor Neil Perry as he hosts an Ice Cream Afternoon at the Methuen Senior Activity Center on Wednesday, May 15 at 2pm. Register today, as space is limited.

Join us the third Friday of every month at 10am for “Dialogue with the Director,” an engaging conversation where you can share your feedback, insights and ideas directly with Senior Center Executive Director Ashley Shaheen. Help us shape the vision of our center. Your input is valuable as we try to enhance and expand our programs to better serve you!  


Karaoke is back! 

Join us Tuesday, May 21 as your host Don Riccio plays the songs that you love to sing! Karaoke will start at 1:30pm. Join us for an afternoon of music and friendship!

Beginners 45’s 

Have you been searching for a way to learn how to play the Merrimack Valley card game, 45’s? Ken Ackroyd hosts Beginners 45’s every Tuesday at 1pm. Call the center to make a reservation.

Come, put your “super sleuth” on, having much fun along the way. Token prizes will be awarded.  

May 29: Normandy Presentation with Francis Ford Jr., 10:30am. A memoir of forgotten history from the D-Day invasion; Heating, Electricity, Housing Assistance for Seniors, 5pm! The City of Methuen will assist income-eligible residents 60 years of age and older with up to $5,000 in Energy/Housing Assistance. 

May 30: Traveling Chef luncheon featuring a carving station with turkey and roast beef, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, green beans, dessert. Space is limited and reservation is required.
