The Methuen Senior Activity Center was booming with excitement during its annual Arts, Crafts and Happy Hearts Festival, which celebrates Older Americans Month.

Senior-made paintings, ceramics, photography and quilts were displayed throughout the auditorium and main lobby. The items were created by those who take part in the many classes available at the Senior Center. Along with the art displays, the center held a jewelry sale with proceeds benefiting the center.

Guests were also treated to a medley of songs by the Happy Hearts Chorus, directed by Susan Riccio and emceed by city employees Cole Welch and Jill Stacklin.

Coffee and doughnuts were provided at the opening of the festival, and guests could purchase sandwiches for lunch.

“This annual event is amongst the cornerstone of community-building here at the center. We love displaying our students’ artwork and hearing our wonderful Happy Hearts,” said Activities Director Jennifer Loiselle.
