On May 9, the City of Methuen held its Tricentennial Celebration which was truly the pinnacle event of this historic year. Held before a sold-out crowd at the magnificent Methuen Memorial Music Hall, the evening brought together residents, community leaders and honored guests for an unforgettable celebration of Methuen’s rich history and vibrant future.
Guests were welcomed into the grandeur of the hall with performances by the Boston String Ensemble whose music added sophistication and warmth to the celebration. The evening continued with a breathtaking organ concert that showcased the beauty and tradition of the world-renowned Great Organ.
Guests also heard from James Paul Archibald Methuen Campbell, the current Lord Methuen. While he currently resides in Corsham, England, he agreed to provide a brief history of the Methuen family which was read at the event.
Attendees enjoyed a formal sit-down dinner as they reflected on three centuries of community, growth and pride. From the stunning setting to the outstanding entertainment, every detail of the gala embodied the spirit and significance of Methuen’s 300th anniversary.
While many wonderful events were planned throughout the tricentennial year, the Gala at Memorial Music Hall stood as the signature event — a grand and memorable evening worthy of celebrating 300 remarkable years of Methuen history.
