And now back to LoConte’s Subs and Pizza.

For the past several years, 689 Prospect St., has seen almost as many changes as there are pizza toppings.

On Aug. 21, Paul LoConte announced on social media that he’s “made a full recovery” from his “health situation” and that earlier in the day he purchased his old business. He opened there in 2021.

“My plan is to thoroughly clean and restock the store and have a grand opening the first week of September.”

LoConte states that Mario’s closed Aug. 19 due to a decline in food quality.

Mario’s responded Aug. 21 – also on social media – saying they “had to sell our shop this week due to health reasons, and not what some other people are saying online. We are sorry for the short notice.”

Last April, Mario’s took over the space and changed the name.

Whatever the “beef” is here, apparently the neighborhood won’t have to go too long without hot and fresh pizzas, subs and three-way roast beef sandwiches. And we hope everyone gets – and stays – healthy.
