Mark your calendar early for two special events this month!

*On Sunday, Dec. 22 at 1pm, join the Happy Hearts Chorus at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall for a Holiday Celebration. Guest singers include Lori McLaughlin, Brendan and Janessa Murphy, James Garrity, Santa Claus, the Grinch and the St. Monica’s Community Chorus.

We wish to thank Richard Payeur, owner of Payeur Silk Flowers, for all he has done to bring this wonderful event to the Music Hall!

Both programs are free and open to the public.

Holiday Open House

Join us Thursday, Dec. 12 from 9am-3pm as we usher in the season with our Holiday Open House. There will be with a jewelry sale, free coffee and doughnuts plus the Happy Hearts Holiday Celebration (1pm). Raffles in the main lobby will support the newly created Rene and Elaine Morissette Scholarship to support Methuen students. The scholarship will be initiated in 2025, with two scholarships being presented in the spring.

The center owes much to Rene and Elaine Morissette! Rene was known as Mr. Senior Center and served as president of the Board of Trustees as well as chairman of the Council on Aging. With the assistance of other community leaders, Rene’s vison was realized during the design and construction of the Methuen Senior Activity Center. Elaine was the treasurer of the Building Committee and later served on the Board of Trustees. The Scholarship Fund is our way of honoring these two individuals who gave so much to the community, and worked tirelessly to see their vision become a reality.

Today, the center continues to be a wonderful resource for the seniors in the community and beyond and just celebrated its 40th anniversary.
