Hot nights just got a lot cooler, thanks to the city’s debut of its Summer Music Series at Riverwalk Park!
Smooth jazz filled
the air for the first show, featuring Ristuben Jazz performing inside the gazebo on Osgood Street. After strolling around the park, adults and children made themselves comfortable on the lawn. Some said they had never been to this park and were excited to hear the musicians play. Close to 100 people came to hear the music and enjoy a nice evening, which also included a food truck for those who wanted to grab dinner and Cedar Foods passing out snack packs.
Through a grant obtained from the Arts and Cultural Council, the Methuen Arts and Cultural Council planned four concerts in the park. Future shows include The Shadow Band on Aug. 25, The Bellas on Sept. 8 and a pair of bands – Three at Home and Troubadour Soul – on Sept. 22. Each event runs from 6-9pm.
Arts Council member Karen Broscoe said, “I’ve been dreaming of doing music in this park for years and it’s finally happening.”
Parks and Recreation Director Steve Angelo and Arts Council member Jennifer Loiselle both agreed.
Loiselle was “thrilled with the wonderful turnout.”
Angelo agreed adding, “It was a beautiful night for it.”
Methuen Cultural Council board members include Ellen Baranowski, John and Karen Broscoe, Jennifer Loiselle and Catherine Zembruski.
