Grey Court Park welcomed spring, with hundreds of guests converging on the historic site for the Rec Department’s annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Families enjoyed yard games, photo-ops with the Easter Bunny, vendor tables and the chance to sit inside a Methuen fire truck and police cruiser. Rec Director Steve Angelo was thrilled with the weather – 75 degrees and sunny! Last year’s event was frigid, forcing kids’ cute Easter outfits to be hidden beneath winter coats.

Angelo and his team, including Methuen High student volunteers, set up two egg hunt areas – one for ages 5 and under and another for those 6 and up.

“Perfect day! We’ve got 4,500 eggs, plus 100 pounds of candy,” said Angelo, after he and his team spread toy- and sticker-filled eggs, as well as loose candy and coupons from Texas Road House and Launch Trampoline Park, while kids stood behind caution tape, eager for the hunt to begin.

It was over in a flash!

Athena Cruz, 7, said her favorite part of the day was “opening eggs and trading” what she found inside with her friend, Avery Hubbard, 6.
MHS volunteer Evan Muniz, 17, was happy to pitch in and handled crowd control, as he fist-bumped kids lined up for the egg hunt.
“I hope everyone has a nice Easter,” he smiled.

Decked out in Easter attire, 3-year-old Aliana Alba was on a mission at Grey Court. “I’m here to hunt for eggs!” she smiled.

Ethan Londono, 3, had fun playing yard games while balancing his adorable egg basket.

Evan Muniz, 17, was one of several Methuen High student volunteers who helped the Rec Department spread 4,500 eggs filled with toys, stickers and other treats. He loves photography and he films city events for Methuen Community Studios. He’s obviously got great taste: He LOVES MethuenLife!

“Twin Tornadoes” Abby (left) and Norah MacDonald, age 10, wore their Methuen Youth Soccer uniforms, as they came straight from a travel game to the egg hunt. They’re Tenney School fifth-graders.

Families walked the wooded path back to St. Basil’s parking lot, at the event’s conclusion.
