The Methuen High School varsity hockey team honored veterans and first responders during their home-ice face-off against Haverhill High School last month.
Several veterans, mostly parents of the players along with others from area groups, as well as many Methuen police and firefighters were recognized on-ice by both teams.
Methuen High senior Ella Duffy opened the night, beautifully singing the national anthem. Guy Curtis, commander of VFW Post 8349, had the honor of doing the ceremonial puck-drop with Methuen senior Zachary Anderson (13) and Haverhill senior Jake Costa (10) at center ice.
The Rangers wore special red, white and blue jerseys in recognition of Veterans and First Responders Night.
MHS beat Haverhill, 7-6.
