With the beautiful warm weather upon us, we’re excited to share with you a month full of connection and total joy. This month of July while we celebrate America and all the great things it has to offer, never forget that YOU are great and YOU have great things to offer. Sharing events with all of you makes celebrating the season more fun for all of us!
Celebrating
America Dance
On July 8, enjoy our Celebrating America Dance! Join the Traveling Chef for a luncheon for $2 per person. Then dance the afternoon away with DJ Jukebox Joe. The event runs from 11:30am-3pm. Reservation required! Call (978) 983-8825.
Drivers needed
There are two opportunities for volunteer drivers to support local seniors.
We’re looking for volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to Methuen community members between 9am and noon Monday through Friday. It’s a unique opportunity for those who want a flexible schedule, stipend and mileage reimbursement, rewarding work and a great community of friends and neighbors. If interested, please go to the website agespan.org and click on “Volunteers.”
Drivers are also needed for NEET (Northern Essex Elder Transportation) to take elders to and from medical appointments. You decide when and where to drive. Mileage reimbursement is provided! Call the Senior Center at (978) 983-8825 and speak to Cheryl about becoming a volunteer.
Join the Silver
Haired Legislation
Join us July 6 at 1pm as we launch the Silver Haired Legislation program. It will help you stay in touch with state and local activities that may affect the senior population. Is it political? NO! Our goal is simply to help seniors become aware of issues that impact them. If you choose, then you can share your thoughts and concerns with local and state officials by phone calls, office hours at the center, e-mail or letter.

Join Gigi & the Gravity Men
On July 21 at 1pm, get ready to tap your toes and hit the dance floor! Gigi and the Gravity Men will be here to entertain you with classic rock favorites and lively tunes that are sure to get you moving.
Ice Cream Social
Join us July 22 at 1pm as East District City Councilor
Ron Marsan hosts an afternoon of dancing, friendship and refreshing ice cream from Jay-Gee’s!
Help with your
Mass Health benefits
The second Wednesday of each month (9:30 -11:30am), a representative from Mass Health will be at the center to assist you in applying for benefits.
An appointment is necessary by calling the center at (978) 983-8825.
Support will include applying, renewing, submitting missing documents, verification and answering questions.
Birthday party
If your birthday is in July, join us on the July 23 at 11:30am so we can celebrate YOU! The staff will serenade you with their rendition of the “Happy Birthday” song! Enjoy a meal and birthday cake. Call the center and reserve your spot at least two days in advance!

Container Gardening
Discover the joy of gardening July 10 at 9am!
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or brand new and are curious about growing your own plants, this session is for information only. The next session you will have your hands in the soil!
Korean War vets event
Mark Korean War Veterans Day on Monday, July 27 at noon by
honoring the courage, sacrifice and service of these veterans, during an event at the Billerica Town Hall Auditorium. Lunch will be served. To register, call the Billerica Veterans Department at (978) 671-0968.
