The Methuen Senior Activity Center recently had its annual arts and crafts show, along with a delightful musical performance by the Happy Hearts Choir.
The talented artists shared their incredible pieces, completed at the various classes held at the center. There were designs from ceramics, paintings, rock painting and photography to pictures designed from seashells and sea glass as well as exquisitely designed quilts.
Mayor DJ Beauregard opened the show to a crowd of over 100 guests saying, “I just want to acknowledge the incredible team here at the Senior Center. You all do such incredible work and I, along with so many others in the city, are so grateful for all that you do to keep this place going.”
Beauregard then presented Interim Director Susan Riccio with a citation from the City of Methuen proclaiming the month of May, Older Americans Month. The mayor also presented DPW Director Patrick Bower with a citation from the city stating, “On behalf of the City of Methuen for all the efforts the Department of Public Works does for the city as well as everything his staff does for the Methuen Senior Center.”
Riccio also presented Bower with a Community Recognition Award from the Senior Center, which read, “In grateful recognition for tire tireless dedication to the Methuen Senior Activity Center.”
Chris’s Famous Pizza owner Dionissios Angelakis supplied the food for the event including meatball and tuna sandwiches and hot dogs. City Council Chair Ron Marsan graciously paid for the meals.
