Father Ron Coyne has been named temporary administrator of Methuen Catholic, the collaborative parishes of St. Lucy and St. Monica.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know you and the wonderful history of your two parishes,” Coyne said in his introductory announcement in the church bulletin of June 2.

Coyne replaces Pastor Darin Colarusso, who recently departed Methuen following a transfer to Wilmington. Colarusso had led the Methuen Catholic collaborative for six years.

Coyne will serve in Methuen over the summer until a pastor is appointed by the Archdiocese of Boston.

Coyne has been serving on the Emergency Response Team of the Archdiocese since 2019, covering parishes that need temporary administrators. He had previously served in Marblehead, Wilmington and other communities.

“I like the unknown, meeting new people, experiencing, growing and ministering in our understanding of God together,” he said in the bulletin.
Coyne grew up in Roslindale and West Roxbury. He was pastor of St. Pious X and St. Anne in Hyde Park for five years.
