The Methuen Recreation Department and Police Department teamed up for a well-attended Skate with a Cop event at the Methuen High ice rink during February school vacation.
Over 70 people enjoyed the hour and a half they spent skating alongside the Community Policing officers, who also assisted some children just learning to skate.
Recreation Director Steve Angelo told Methuen Life, “This is a fantastic community event; children and their parents have a chance to meet the officers while having a great time with them.”
Community Policing Officer Mark Aiello assisted Angelo with putting the event together. He along with his fellow Officers Brandon LaFlamme and Tracey Noonon, who both took their children for the skate, joined Officers Sawyer Bilich and Matt Tarness and Sgt. John Delano for some fun on the ice with the residents.

The Russo brothers – Peter, 8, Vincenzo, 3, and Rosario, 8 – donned their Bruins attire for the event. Mom Stephanie said the boys enjoy skating.
Mila Velaquez, 6, uses a “skate assist” for beginners. She and her dad Oscar had a lot of fun skating.
