During February school vacation week, the Methuen Police Department joined the Methuen Recreation Department for a Skate with a Cop event at Methuen High School’s ice rink.
With over 75 children and their parents in attendance, it was a complete hit! Officers Mark Aiello, Brandon LaFlamme, Robert Fitzgerald and Matt Morel along with Sgts. Matt Tarness and Matt Mueskes joined in on the fun as well as assisting children who were new to skating.
Whether holding their little hands or helping them with a skating aide, like a walker, the kids were excited to skate with the officers.
Recreation Director Steve Angelo told Methuen Life, “This is always a fantastic community event! Children and their parents had a chance to meet the officers while having a great time with them.”
One of the highlights of the event was the police drone that flew over the rink. At one point, everyone gathered in the center of the rink to wave while the drone captured their smiles.
Officers Robert Fitzgerald and Brandon LaFlamme enjoyed helping Adaline Meaney, 7, and Peyton Meaney-Rameriz, 5, learn to skate.

Kate Capodagli helps son Connor, 5, as this was his first time skating. They both had a great time.
Friends Myles Benoit, Joshua Rodriguez and Brogan LaFlamme had a blast skating around the rink together. Brogan is the son of Community Policing Officer Brandon LaFlamme.
