Here’s a look at the businesses that are moving in and out of Methuen.
NOW OPEN
*Triana’s Mexican Snacks: Now open at 319 Merrimack St., in the spot formerly occupied by Edible Arrangements. Fruit drinks and cups, tacos, mulitas, street corn, churros and more. Open Monday-Saturday, 11am-9pm.
*Teriyaki Madness: Now open at The Loop, in between European Wax Center and Bath & Body Works. Offering Asian-style bowls, apps and sides in a fast, casual atmosphere. This nationwide chain also has a location in Burlington.
ADIóS
• Margarita’s, at The Loop, permanently closed last month. Their Salem, N.H., restaurant is still open. Loop management would neither confirm not deny that another Mexican eatery will be moving in.
CLOSING … NOT!
• Big Lots, on Jackson Street, won’t be closing after all. Despite the STORE CLOSING announcement on BigLots.com, a massive CLOSING sign on the front of the store and a person standing along the busy roadway holding a large BIG LOTS CLOSING – 30% OFF sign, staffers say this location has avoided the ax. Many of the chain’s sites nationwide are permanently closing.
ANNIVERSARY
• Jersey Mike’s celebrated its 3-year anniversary at The Loop last month.
IN THE WORKS
*The Smoke Shop BBQ: Expected to open this month at the former Outback steakhouse on Pelham Street. Award-winning competitive-barbecue chef Andy Husbands’ restaurant (which has several locations in and around Boston) is known for its ribs, sauces and whiskey. See story in the September issue of MethuenLife.
• Wengs Garden, which has the same owners at Salem, N.H.,’s Yang Ming, is completely renovating the former Knights of Columbus Gaythorne Hall on Broadway. Per our May issue, owner May Chen-Weng is looking forward to bringing live entertainment (“like music, a dancing space or hopefully a comedian”) to the venue. Max occupancy for this space is 150.
• KPOT, an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ and hot pot experience, is coming to The Loop. Seating for 196 guests and anticipated opening is August. The chain is also planning to open locations in Dedham and West Springfield as well as Nashua, N.H. Thekpot.com.
*Ybonis Beauty Spa: Opening soon at the former Pest End location, 15 Pelham St., at the Five Corners.
•Sweet Learning Center is coming soon to the Jackson Street site previously occupied by Methuen Animal Hospital and is currently under construction.
•Froggy’s Play School (child-care center chain) opening on Merrimack Street, near Dollar Store. Per their Haverhill location, which will also oversee this site, there is no opening date at this time.
NEARBY
• The Capital Grille, a fine-dining and steakhouse chain, is coming to Tuscan Village in Salem, N.H., and expects to open in winter 2025.
