Methuen now has a satellite Health and Human Services’ Community Resource Center, located at 1 Broadway.

This site provides assistance with SNAP, RAFT and MassHealth; Supplemental Security Income/Social Security Disability Insurance (SSI/SSDI) applications; City of Methuen electricity, gas and rental/mortgage assistance; connection to housing, substance-use treatment and hoarding services; and emergency food assistance.

Mayor Neil Perry addressed the crowd of over 100 people, who attended the official opening last month.

“We’re thrilled to be here to announce the opening of this local one-stop health office,” he said. “This is where we want to be in the community, making it easier for people to access services when they need them. We’re are excited to finally have it open.”

He credited the Health and Human Services Department for their dedication to opening this site.

“I want to thank Mayor Perry and the City of Methuen. For the city to be able to listen and open this center, where we can be here for people and to help them without just giving them a phone number,” said Public Health Director Kelly Townsend. “We’re going to help people fill out applications for assistance. We will also be working in partnership with Greater Lawrence Family Health Center; we will have a doctor here one day a week with the idea of helping people get primary-care doctors so they’re not using the hospitals constantly, so they’ll have someone here who they can trust to talk about their health care.”

There will also be a social worker available.

Townsend also thanked the Methuen DPW and others who volunteered their time throughout this process.

The Community Resource Center’s hours are Monday through Thursday, 8am-4pm and Friday, 8am-12:30pm. Phone numbers are (978) 397-2305 or (978) 609-9325.

The Health and Human Services Department’s main office can also be accessed at City Hall.
