Central Catholic High School announced that Andrew J. Murray of Amesbury will serve as the 17th principal of CCHS, effective July 1. He will replace Methuen native Doreen Keller, who has been leading the private, co-ed college-prep school for 14 years.

Murray brings a unique perspective and breadth of experience to the position of principal. Following a 20-year business career in the healthcare and technology industries, Murray arrived at Central Catholic in 2007 as a mathematics teacher. After 10 years, he was invited to join the administrative team as an assistant principal for student success. He has been successfully supporting students as they discover their best selves, develop their abilities, strengthen their faith and make lifelong friends.

“I am honored and excited to serve as the 17th Principal of such a distinguished and supportive institution as Central Catholic – a place I consider a second home,” said Murray. “Our phenomenal student body brings energy and life to campus each and every day. I am endlessly impressed with their positivity and ability to conquer any challenge. The opportunities our students have to grow in all areas is truly unlimited!”

CCHS President Christopher Sullivan has worked alongside Murray throughout his tenure and is excited for the future of Central Catholic.

“Mr. Murray is the perfect person to inspire and lead our community as we look to the future while standing on the shoulders of the legacy that has been handed to us. He has a deep love for our school, our students and our faculty and staff. There are very few people who have embraced the mission of Central Catholic and our Marist Charism the way that Mr. Murray has,” said Sullivan.

In addition to his work in and out of the classroom, Murray has served in a variety of leadership roles including Faculty Senate, Leadership Committee and the Marist School Evaluation Team.

Murray and his late wife Jeanine are the parents of two daughters and CCHS graduates Samantha (Murray ’11) Coppedge and Mackenzie Murray ’13. He is also a delighted grandfather to Samantha’s daughter Winslow Anne.
