Former Boston Red Sox designated hitter and first baseman David “Big Papi” Ortiz was at One Stop Liquors at The Loop on Sept. 11 from 3:30-5:30pm, promoting his rum Ozama and meeting fans. Young and old waited in line holding baseballs, jerseys and posters to meet the baseball legend, get autographs and take photos with him. Adults purchased bottles of Ozama, named after the river in the Dominican Republic – a place Ortiz fondly remembers. The event was broadcast live on Power 102.9 FM. About 200 people attended. The rum sells for $36.99 per bottle. The first 100 customers to each purchase 3 bottles were guaranteed to meet Papi, who was gracious, looking fly in his shades and gold chain, and all smiles – as always!
