Every Wednesday at the Methuen Senior Center, students from Methuen High School join seniors for the Adopt-a-Grandparent program. Student adviser Jeff Bellistri said 45 teens signed up this year. They enjoy the company of each other while playing games or just talking about life. Last month, participants held a fashion show using clothing and items available at the center’s Thrift Shop. Dressed in their fancy clothes, hats and accessories, they strutted down a “red carpet” lined with red and white balloons. At the end of the runway were judges – Assistant Director Liz Otto and Office Manager Maribet Torres – who awarded gift cards to the winners: seniors Mary Sheehy and David Kirkpatrick and students Mia Montgomery, Sophia Cerullo and Dalliany Arias. The center’s thrift shop is open to the public Monday to Thursday, 9am-3pm and Friday, 9am-noon.
