On a picture-perfect sun-soaked June day, the Merrimack Valley YMCA hosted a Foam Party at its Methuen branch to celebrate the end of the 2026 school year.

What is a foam party, you ask? Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like … cannon-like tubes blast foam across the playground, then you add in kids, some great dance music and, voila, an instant good time!

With grant money from the Family Nights organization, and sponsored by Commonwealth Motors, this free community event held June 17 attracted hundreds of local kids to frolic in the foamy fun.

Event organizer Cathy Redard, who leads the Methuen YMCA, greeted families at the gate with smiles and popsicles, saying, “Last year we did this to celebrate the start of summer, so this year we thought we’d celebrate the end of the school year.”

“We get a great turnout, the kids love it!” she added.
