Methuen held its annual Earth Day Cleanup on April 25 with many residents and city officials, as well as several DPW employees, picking up trash, discarded televisions and much more. They filled hundreds of garbage bags on this one day.
Several areas across the city were targeted for the cleanup including the banks along the Merrimack River at Riverside Park, Tenney Street Playground, Methuen Rail Trail, Neil Playstead Park, Riverwalk Park, Veterans Park and Forest Lake.
Hundreds of trash bags, gloves and trash grabbers were provided by the DPW.
Participating sponsors included Heavn’ly Donuts which donated dozens of boxes of doughnuts and coffee to each site; Riverside Cleanup by the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission; PlanetAid and Muddy Waters Pub.
The DPW rounded up all the trash bags and debris for disposal.
