of Fame 2026
*Alan M. Strondak, Class of 1963. A three-sport athlete (baseball, basketball and football), he earned 9 varsity letters at Tenney High. As a three-year starter and captain of the baseball team, Al (who played every position except first base) participated in the Eastern Mass. Baseball Tournament, the Lowell Suburban League All-Star Basketball game and the Greater Lawrence vs. Greater Lowell All-Star football game – all in the same year! In 1962, he received the Andrew Haldane Trophy for Outstanding Senior Football Player and in ’63 was selected “Boy Athlete of the Year” by the Methuen Boosters Club. He gave 30 years coaching football and baseball, and umpired high school, American Legion and semi-pro baseball.
*1972 baseball team was the Merrimack Valley Champions Class B Semi-Finalist, led by captain and Hall of Famer Tim Napolitano. Players included Tom Benjamín, Dan Messina, Fred Simm, John Boganam, Jeff Mackor, Larry Phillips, John Gallagher, Jeff Petrillo and Gary Kuchar. With a record of 22-2 and 17-1 in the MVC, they went on to place 3-1 in the State Tournament.
*Beth Childs, Class of 1979, excelled in field hockey, basketball and softball (1975-’79). Was a starter on 6 consecutive MVC championship teams in all 3 varsity sports and team captain in ’79. Awarded an MVC All-Star in ’79 for field hockey; in ’78 and ‘79, was MHS Defensive Player of the Year (field hockey, basketball); received the Betty Barry Coaches Award (field hockey, basketball).
*Julie Ciarcia Ryan, Class of 1987, was a dominant power forward on the hoops court who re-wrote the record books. The senior co-captain led an undefeated season and was selected to every All-Star team in the area. Was named best player in the MVC as selected by the coaches and was 3-time MVC All-Star and the Girls Varsity Basketball MVP (’86 and ’87). Earned 4-year basketball scholarship to Southern New Hampshire College where she scored 1,402 career points (fifth in their all-time scoring list). Currently ranked eighth in rebounds (726) and sixth in steals (198). Was named both the basketball MVP and the Women’s Athlete of the Year (’91). Was selected to play semi-pro basketball in Brunnen, Switzerland, from 1991-1993.
*Erin Stewart, Class of 1996. As a field hockey tri-captain for the 1995-96 season, was named a Merrimack Valley League All-Star, to the Merrimack Valley All-Conference team and an Eagle-Tribune Athlete of the Week. Sophomore year, was named Most Improved Player and Merrimack Valley League All-Star for basketball. Junior year she was a Merrimack Valley League All-Star. A co-captain in basketball, she accumulated 497 points, 224 assists, 121 rebounds and 245 deflections over four years. From 1993-95, she was an AAU Nationals player.
*Derrick Marsan, Class of 2003, played varsity football from 1999-2002 as a halfback and linebacker, and was named Eagle-Tribune Defensive MVP, earning selection to the Shriners All-Star Team and MVC League All-Star games. Was a member of the All-Conference teams from his sophomore to senior years. Voted senior captain for football and indoor/outdoor track. As a senior, he was voted MHS’ Athlete of the Year.
*Rashidat Agboola Onuorah, Class of 2010, was a two-sport athlete (volleyball, basketball) for four years. Was a two-time MVC Small School Player of the Year (volleyball). In basketball, she was MVC Player of the Year (2008-09), named Methuen MVP, MVC All-Star, All-Conference Player and Methuen MVP. She led the region in scoring, averaging 22 points per game with 14 rebounds per game. Earned a full scholarship to Boston University where her lengthy list of honors includes America East All-Rookie Team as a freshman and being voted a tri-captain her junior and senior years. She finished with 870 rebounds to rank second all-time and is 12 in program history with 1,196 points to be the fourth player at BU to finish with over 1,000 points and 800 rebounds. Ranks third all-time with 147 blocks.
*Cal Carroll, Class of 2011: The varsity football captain’s honors include being named to the 2009 MVC All-Conference Team, an MVC Most Valuable Player, a 2010 Lawrence Eagle-Tribune Player of the Year and to the MVC All-Conference Team. Was selected to be on the Boston Globe All-Scholastic team, 2011 Boston Herald All-Scholastic team, and a player for the Aleppo Shriners Football Game. Achieved 5,000-plus total career yards and 75 career total touchdowns. In 2011, was varsity baseball captain and selected to the MVC All-Conference Team. A League All-Star selected out of 42 schools, he was awarded the Max Bishop Male Athlete of the Year. In 2014, he was the Suffolk University Rookie of the Year.
*Amanda Conway, Class of 2015: As softball player, hit .406 with 50 runs scored and 23 RBI. Was named an MVC All Star (’14), named MVC All Conference (’15) and helped lead the team to MHS’ first Division 1 North Sectional Championship. Ice hockey, however, was her favorite. As a forward armed with a wicked left shot, she scored 201 goals and had 39 assists. Honors: Boston Globe All Scholastic (3 years), Boston Herald All-Scholastic, Boston Herald Dream Team, Division II Player of the Year (3 years), Boston Herald Hot Shot, MVC Player of the Year and Eagle-Tribune All-Star as well as Player of the Year. Attended Norwich University where she scored 188 goals. Was the leading NCAA Division III scorer in her final year and third all-time in Division III scorers. In 2017, was named New England Hockey Conference Rookie of the Year. Amanda would be named NEHC Conference Player of the Year a record three times, and would lead the university to a national title (’18). Her stellar career earned her a spot with the Connecticut Whales where she was drafted 19th overall in the 2020 NWHL Draft, and signed her first professional contract with the team ahead of the 2020–21 season.
*Kathleen LeFebre, Class of 2016. Compiling an impressive 27 goals and 56 assists, Kat was a two-year team ice hockey captain. Was a Shriners All-Star, MVC/DCL All-Star and Team MVP as a senior. Named to the Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team and the Boston Herald Dream Team. She was varsity softball captain (2016), Team MVP and MVC Softball Player of the Year. Also, 4-time MVC Softball All-Conference Team, Eagle-Tribune, and the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic Team for softball. For the first time in MHS history, she was selected as a member of the 2015 D1 North Sectional Championship Team. Only player in MHS history with 100-plus hits and 100-plus RBI in a career; caught 610-plus innings with only three errors recorded. In her 4-year high school softball career, she registered an admirable batting average of over .400.

Alumni – 2026
*Lynn Turchi, Tenney Class of 1967, is the consummate educator and coach who served the district from 1971-2009. Later volunteered at CGS library, acting as a substitute teacher, assisting area principals in testing and functioning as a PAC board member. Beginning in ’71, she coached basketball and track at the Oakland School, Tenney Middle, MHS and any field in between. Coach Mimi Hyde and Turchi instituted the first summer basketball camp for girls at MHS. One could find Lynn at the River Valley League, Jewish Community Center, St. Mary’s, Merrimack College or UMass Lowell coaching or scouting. Her athletic skill and knowledge transferred to the classroom, such as in her well-designed collaborative activities. Previously, she was a summer Methuen playground director.
*William Pare, Class of 1971, exhibited management skills at an early age as he captained both his high school and college basketball teams. Was Methuen’s first full-time recreation director. Managed and coordinated city events and programming including, but not limited to, July Fourth fireworks, annual Fall Festival, Forest Lake activities, Sandlot baseball, Learn to Skate and youth basketball/flag football. Was a volunteer for and committee member of the Field Renovation Committee, Youth Commission, Spring Cleanup, Santa Parade and Nicholson Stadium Renovation Committee, to name a few.
*Benjamin Pare, Class of 2010. Yes, this would be Bill’s son. A state champion and captain in track for the 4x800m and 1 mile, he owns the record for the second-fastest mile in MHS history. In 2010, he was the Moynihan Lumber Scholar Athlete of the Year and the MHS Scholar Athlete of the Year. Placed sixth nationally at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in ’10. Running the Boston Marathon in ’14, ’19, ’21 and ’25, he posted a personal best of 2:22 in the final year. In ’14, was named UMass Lowell Scholar Athlete of the Year and granted to the US Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team. Attended medical school at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine at Auburn University. Completed his residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland where he was acknowledged with the Maine Medical Center Resident Teacher of the Year Award in ’22. He became an emergency medicine doctor at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., where he currently serves.

*Adam Aliano, Class of 2005. The ’05 class president excelled at the U.S. Naval Academy. He then served nearly 5 years at sea as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the destroyer USS PREBLE. Deployments included operations in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea in support of the Global War on Terror, anti-piracy missions off the coast of Somalia, and humanitarian relief efforts following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Recognized as the Junior Officer Leader of the Year for the Pacific Fleet in ’14. Was selected for the Navy’s Legal Education Program and graduated from Harvard Law School in ’17. As a Navy JAG, he served worldwide in litigation, advisory and leadership roles, prosecuting or supervising the prosecution of more than 75 criminal cases and advising senior military commanders on legal and operational matters. Later earned master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, graduating in ’22 with Highest Distinction and receiving the Vice Admiral James Doyle International Law Prize. Returned to the classroom as an adjunct professor at the U.S. Naval Academy, teaching constitutional, military and international law while mentoring the next generation of junior officers who are currently serving in active operations around the globe. Continues his service as a Commander in the Navy Reserves. In civilian life he is an attorney with WilmerHale in Boston, where he practices commercial litigation and white-collar criminal defense.
*Special Contributor Karen Broscoe has been employed in the trophy business for 36 years, first with Emblem & Badge and Crown Trophy in Methuen before purchasing ESCO Awards. MHS’ Athletic Department has worked closely with Karen since the early ’90s. Events such as the Athletic Awards Nights, Athletic and Distinguished Hall of Fame Ceremony Awards, Tournament and Invitational Awards, Football Awards Inscriptions and all other needs are always done in a professional, timely manner. Broscoe has always gone above and beyond for the Methuen community!
*The Arthur Nicholson III “True Blue Award”: Established in memory of former MHS Principal Arthur Nicholson, the award honors an individual who embodies his exceptional qualities: dedication, commitment, loyalty, a strong sense of purpose, continuous support, esprit de corps and vision. This year’s winner is MHS ice rink manager Paul Trussell who started in 1989 and has often said that MHS has made him a better man. As the ice rink manager for over 25 years and a coach for 10, he has dedicated himself to the students. His commitment, leadership and steady presence have made a lasting impact.
