Brighter holiday
for the homebound
This holiday season, the Senior Center is proud to introduce our “Giving Tree,” a heartfelt initiative to support our homebound seniors so they feel remembered and cherished.
Through Dec. 12, the tree will be on display in the main lobby of the center adorned with gift tags representing the wishes and needs of our homebound. We invite you to stop by, select a tag and help make someone’s holiday truly special.
We are spreading kindness one gift at a time!
Filling the
SNAP gap
During the recent government shutdown, Mayor DJ Beauregard extended his hand to the community by offering the Methuen Cares Program that originally was started by late Mayor Neil Perry during the COVID pandemic. Methuen Cares was a way to help people get food when it was hard to get to markets during that time.
Mayor Beaureguard asked if the Senior Center could become the host after trying to secure a place that offered parking and could store the food.
When the mayor called to see if it was possible for the center to become a food pantry and distribution site for SNAP – which is a big part of the center as we have placed many people into the program – the answer was YES.
It was an honor to be asked to be part of helping to feed our community so nutritional and valued meals could be placed at each table. Working hand in hand with Methuen Police Department, Methuen Health and Human Services, volunteers, participants and the Senior Center team, it all went great!
A very special THANK YOU goes to all of the businesses and community members that donated to help make this distribution possible.
