Central District preliminary election set for Sept. 16

Campaign season is under way in Methuen!

With six candidates vying for two seats in the Central District, a Preliminary Election will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16 to narrow the field in that race down to four. Polls will be open from 7am-7pm in Precincts 1, 2, 6, 6A, 10 and 14.

The Municipal Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4. Voters will choose a mayor (1), councilors-at-large (3), East District councilors (2), Central District councilors (2), West District councilors (2), Methuen School Committee members (6), Greater Lawrence Technical School Committee members (2), Methuen Housing Authority members (2) and Nevins Memorial Library Trustees (2).

Elections are in season at Methuen Community Studios. They are hosting their first “Candidate Meet & Greet” at their 20 Aegean Drive studios on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 4-8pm.

All residents, business owners and non-profit leaders are encouraged to spend some time meeting the candidates in this year’s City of Methuen elections. As of MethuenLife press time, MCS had 12 candidates, including Mayor Beauregard, commit to this event. Come share your concerns and get to know the people who want to represent your interests at City Hall.

Local candidates are invited to participate in forums and other events to be scheduled for September and October. First up will be the candidates for the Central District Preliminary which are airing on Comcast HD1072, FIOS 33 & HD 2133 and streaming on methuentv.org up through the Sept. 16 election.
