Using a trimmer, Bishop Cristiano Barbosa pruned the hedges on the side of St. Theresa’s Church on Plymouth Street.
After he was done, he got down on his knees and began planting flowers in front of the rectory of Our Lady of Good Counsel.

Barbosa, along with fellow Bishop Mark O’Connell, Sister Pat Boyle and other staff members of the Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Boston came to Our Lady of Good Counsel to beautify the grounds May 19 and 20.

More than 50 volunteers took part in Service Week, an annual event.

Don Collucci, who organized the clean-up with OLGC Pastor Gregory Vozzo, said it’s the first time the event was held in the Merrimack Valley.
