It’s time for the Friends of the Library’s Spring Book Sale! It will kick off Friday, March 21 with a Preview Night from 5-8pm. There is a $20 entry fee for entry on Preview Night, but members of the Friends will get in for free. The Book Sale continues Saturday, March 22 from 9am-5pm and Sunday, March 23 from noon-4pm. The sale concludes Monday, March 24 with Bargain Day from 9am-8pm, during which you can stuff a bag for $10!
This Book Sale is the biggest fund-raiser for the Friends of the Library, who support the library with funding for summer programs as well as most of our museum passes. They have recently added passes for America’s Stonehenge and the Seacoast Science Center! The library thanks the Friends for all they do, and we thank you for supporting the Friends!
Google Docs 101
Curious to learn how to use Google Docs? How to collaborate with others on a letter/list/document using Google Docs? We’ll host a free class Saturday, March 15 at 2pm to help you learn all about this useful tool. PBS: Visions of
America Screening
Join us Friday, March 28 at 1pm as we view an episode of the PBS Museum Series “Visions of America: All Stories, All People, All Places” highlighting trailblazing women leading museums and libraries. These are women who have advocated for, founded and inspired many of our nation’s most treasured institutions, and the women today, who are carrying on that legacy. After viewing the video, we will discuss some of the information learned and talk about great paired book offerings. This library program is being offered in conjunction with the Methuen Senior Center.

Do you have a Methuen High yearbook for the years 1932, 1936 or 1960? May we borrow it from you for a short time and scan it? One Up Games

If you like video games, come to One Up Games on Friday, March 21 between 1 and 4pm. Explore virtual worlds with the Oculus Quest or play the latest titles on Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch! This program is designed for those age 8 and older. News from the
Children’s Room
You know how March always feels like a really long month? Well, it’s a good thing we have plenty of fun programs to keep kids and teens entertained all month long! If your kids (ages 6-9) are creative, they’ll enjoy our “Boredom Busters” program, where they’ll make a sculptable substance called Floam; or how about painting Mardi Gras masks at our “Create, Explore & More” program (for ages 9-11)? And while leprechauns get all the attention in March, our “History Unlocked” program (for ages 8-11) will explore a whole other array of mythical creatures in Irish lore!
We also have some returning favorites, such as “LEGO Block Party” (ages 8-11), our “Bilingual Storytime” collaboration with Greater Lawrence Community Action (ages 3-8), and everyone’s favorite dog, Murphy, is back and eager to have kids (ages 5-18) read aloud to him. What’s more, we’re once again offering an afternoon with One Up Games to occupy kids (ages 8 and up) on the March 21 Methuen schools early release day!
As ever, we’ll also have our usual variety of preschool programs, storytimes, teen programs and more – keep an eye on the Youth Services Department calendar and Facebook page to keep track of what’s in store!
