Happy Valentine’s Day! The Methuen Senior Activity Center has a lot of fun events happening in February. When the weather is not perfect for sitting outside to catch the sunrays, it is a great time to be with us celebrating love, life and friendship! We invite you to stop by and see what we offer.
There is assistance for the following at the center.
*SNAP. To help place nutritional valued meals on your table, there is a program that could possibly help you. Come in and apply today!
*Fuel assistance. No one should be left in the cold. The center offers fuel-assistance help. Greater Lawrence Community Action is at the center every month to assist you with applications. Call us for an appointment: (978) 983-8825. We will tell you what you need to bring the day of the appointment. Apply today!
*Having a tough time paying for your medications? Come to the center and we can see if there is assistance for the medication you are taking.
The Health and Human Services Department, located at 1 Broadway in Methuen, has exceptional workers who can assist you in all that is mentioned above and more! Do not be left in the cold or choose between medication, rent, mortgage and food on your table. You do not know what guidelines you come under until you apply!

Trahan holding office hours here
The office of Congresswomen Lori Trahan will host office hours at the Methuen Senior Activity Center beginning Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 10am-2pm. They will assist you with federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security, VA and more. There is no appointment necessary.
Other office-hour dates are May 7 and Oct. 8.
Mental-health services available
The PATH Methuen Community Response Team is excited to start holding office hours at the center Tuesdays from noon-4pm and Wednesdays from noon-3pm.
This is a collaborative effort between the City of Methuen and Front Line Community Services.
PATH provides access to mental-health services ranging from crisis intervention, alongside the Methuen Police Department, to access to short-term therapy.
The Community Response Team will be hosting office hours at the Methuen Senior Activity Center for anyone who has questions in regards to mental health, is seeking access to resources or just wants to chat. This is a free resource!

Morissette Scholarship
The Board of Trustees at the Methuen Senior Activity Center is pleased to announce the creation of a scholarship honoring Rene J. and Elaine Morissette, founders and longtime leaders of the Methuen Senior Activity Center and their selfless service, community involvement, civic engagement and the dedication to the Methuen seniors. The Board of Trustees will award two $2,500 scholarships in 2025 to students who foster the commitment of the Morissettes and help realize their vision through active service to the City of Methuen and the senior citizen/aging population of Methuen. Information and criteria along with application process will be available soon!

Are you eligible for a Medicare change?
SHINE stands for Serving Health Insurance Needs of Everyone … whether you’re on or eligible for Medicare.
You may have a special enrollment period (SEP) to make changes to your Medicare plan for a limited time. Most SEPs are limited to specific situations. If you are currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan (HMO, HMO-POS, PPO), you can change to Original Medicare with Medigap and a drug plan or change to a different Medicare Advantage Plan through the end of March. Also, if your 2024 plan is no longer available in 2025, or if you are eligible for a Medicare Savings Program, you may have a SEP to make a change. Timelines vary for these SEPS, so be sure to reach out to SHINE to learn of your options. Call the center at (978) 983-8825 for your appointment.
