In between your holiday gift-buying, Christmas cookie baking and fa-la-la-la-la-ing, remember to VOTE in the Tuesday, Dec. 10 Special Election.
Acting Mayor DJ Beauregard and political newcomer James Sarcione, a local business owner, are in the running to fill the remainder of late Methuen Mayor Neil Perry’s term.
Polls will be open from 7am to 7pm at your usual voting location. While there is no early in-person voting, earlier this year postcards were sent to Methuen’s registered voters regarding vote by mail. Those who chose “all elections this year” were mailed a ballot for the Nov. 5 election and will automatically receive a mail-in ballot for the Dec. 10 mayoral election.

Last month, Methuen Community Studios hosted a Mayoral Candidates Forum exploring the experience each man brings to the table and their thoughts on infrastructure projects, city finances and staffing the mayor’s office. Besides taking questions from the moderator Michelle Houle, the candidates were given the opportunity to ask each other a question on any topic. MCS conducts its forums without bias to allow equal time to both candidates.
The Mayoral Forum is running on the public TV channel – Comcast 22 / FIOS 33 (HD=2133) while streaming online at these times:
*Sundays, Dec. 1 and 8 at 10pm.
*Monday, Dec. 2 and Wednesday, Dec. 4 at noon.
* Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 3:30pm.
*Thursday, Dec. 5 and Friday, Dec. 6 at 8:30pm.
