Lifelong Methuen resident and MHS Hall of Famer David O’Hearn, 47, is a devoted dad as well as a dedicated guidance counselor and Red Rangers girls ice hockey coach. His recent cancer diagnosis is a call to action for those who can help.
“The road ahead involves significant medical treatments and care that can be both physically and financially draining. This is where we, as a community, can step in and make a meaningful difference,” according to Dan Grelle, creator of the GoFundMe page to benefit O’Hearn who has also counseled kids at St. Ann’s Home.
Assistant coach of the dominant Methuen-Tewksbury girls since 2016, O’Hearn was featured in MethuenLife last March in the midst of his first season as head coach.
“I was excited for the opportunity to lead some of the best young women I’ve had the pleasure of coaching. We have such a great hockey culture,” the former MHS hockey captain and MHS Class of ’95 alum told our John Molori.
O’Hearn’s sister Meaghan tells MethuenLife, “(David) has given so much back to this community over the years and it’s time that we help him in return. Any amount helps and is much appreciated. Thank you!”
