September at the Senior Center is filled with something for everyone!

*Enrichment classes: We offer Painting, Quilting and Ceramics.  

*Book Club with Maureen Sharrock: This new program starts Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 1pm. Do you love to read? Love to talk about books? Every month, Council on Aging Board Chair Maureen Sharrock will select from a diverse range of genres, cultures and periods. Space is limited to 15 participants, so please sign up early by calling the center.

*Exercise classes: We offer Aeroflex with weights, Gentle Yoga, Cardio Aerobics with weights, Line Dancing, Tai Chi & Qigong, Balance, Bones and Brains, ZUMBA and Yoga. Stop by the center and get your copy of the newsletter for times classes are offered.  

Games and more: Do you like to play 45s? Do you want to learn to play 45’s? On Tuesdays, 1-3pm, join Ken Ackroyd as he teaches how to play this Merrimack Valley card game. After learning, you can put your knowledge to work with the 45s tournaments that are held bi- monthly.  

We also offer Kindness Rocks painting, BINGO, Card Making & Scrapbooking, Coloring, Coffee and Conversation.  

Like to sing? The Happy Hearts Chorus is a 40-member group that sings at city events, nursing homes, assisted-living programs, veterans’ homes, Methuen Music Hall and Methuen Senior Activity Center. We rehearse Thursday afternoons, 1-3pm. The Chorus is looking to start a musical backup and seeks a bass guitarist, string bass player, clarinet player and saxophone player. How about Karaoke? Don Riccio hosts Karaoke monthly! If you like to sing, grab the mic and become a star!

In search of talented seniors

Are you a senior who is also a singer, comedian, dancer, poet or plays an instrument? If you answered YES, the Methuen Senior Center is looking for you!

The center is looking to host a talent show Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 1-3pm. If you’d like to take part, please contact the Methuen Senior Activity Center at (978) 983-8825.

Senior Ambassadors

Attention, new and existing Senior Center members: Come and join in the fun!

Our Senior Ambassador program is here to keep you engaged. We have Ambassadors waiting to talk to you and welcome you to the Senior Activity Center. Tours are available! We look forward to meeting new attendees as well as welcoming those who have been a part of our center. We will be hosting a monthly coffee hour the first Tuesday of the month at 10am starting in October. Join us!
