Schools reopen on Aug. 28
Savor summer, as first- to twelfth-graders return to Methuen Public Schools on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Thursday, Aug. 29 is also a full day. There is no school Aug. 30 and Sept. 2 for the Labor Day holiday.
Preschoolers’ and kindergartners’ first day is Wednesday, Sept. 4.
Shout-out to these MHS students
On May 10, Methuen High seniors planning to pursue a career in education were recognized at Future Teacher Signing Day. Congratulations to Ariana Baez, Kaelyn Brillant, Abigail Lee, Lorenzo Lozada, Marissa Mahoney, Courtney Marion, Isabella Monsanto, Diya Patel, Lorena Pena and Jakob Traynor.
These students were selected as Methuen High School delegates to the Northeast Regional Student Advisory Council (NERSAC) for the 2024-2025 school year: sophomore Tayyab Afzal and junior Crystal Castro. The State Student Advisory Council was established by the Massachusetts State Legislature in 1971 as one of the first organizations to provide for direct student involvement in statewide decision-making in education. In its 40-plus years of existence, the SSAC has written, filed and lobbied for passage of a number of laws that affect students.
