Methuen is getting a double dose of casting ballots, with two separate elections – one for president (and more) and one for mayor – taking place 5 weeks apart.
The state/presidential general election is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Polling hours are 7am-8pm. (Note: The final day for early in-person voting is Friday, Nov. 1 from 8am-noon at the Quinn Public Safety Building, 90 Hampshire St.)
That will be followed by a special municipal election Tuesday, Dec. 10 to name a permanent replacement to fill the remainder of late Methuen Mayor Neil Perry’s term. The candidates are Acting Mayor DJ Beauregard and political newcomer James Sarcione. On Oct. 7, City Clerk Anne Drouin told City Council that while there will be no early in-person voting for the mayoral election, residents can vote by mail.
Earlier this year, postcards were sent to Methuen’s registered voters regarding vote by mail. Those who chose “all elections this year” were mailed a ballot for the Nov. 5 election and will automatically receive a mail-in ballot for the Dec. 10 mayoral election.
