The Methuen Arlington Neighborhood Inc., has been awarded an $12,500 grant from the Greater Lawrence Summer Fund, a program of the Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF).
“This generous funding will support our efforts to provide a safe, structured, and culturally diverse environment for local youth throughout the summer at the Tenney Street Playground in Methuen,” MAN stated in a press release. “Our program will offer a wide range of enriching activities, including breakfast and lunch, recreational games, arts and crafts, field trips, yoga, karate, and a summer basketball league.
These activities are designed to keep children engaged in positive and supervised alternatives to being home alone.”
The free summer program runs July 1 to Aug. 22, operating Monday through Friday, 8am-2pm and is open to participants ages 7 and up. No registration needed, but an adult should drop off and pick up the child.
MAN also received a $1,500 grant from the Eversource Energy Foundation Inc., to support their ongoing educational and recreational programming for youth at the Lena Lahey Community Center on Tenney Street.
